Porto Locals (Daily tours to Douro Valley)

If you’re deciding between tours…CHOOSE THIS ONE!!!!We tried our best to research the itineraries and read the reviews of dozens of tours before booking, hoping to avoid a large, impersonal group experience and hours staring at the back of a bus headrest. Our tour with Porto Locals was everything we were hoping for and more!Our intimate group of eight had the pleasure of being led by our incredible guide Tito, who shared with us really interesting facts about the region as we drove through it. An expert driver on the winding roads, he tipped us off on can’t-miss sights along our journey, and stopped for us to take photos at a spectacular view point. His humour and taste in music were second to none, and this made the drive to and from the Duoro a highlight of the trip.The two wineries we visited were gorgeous, family-owned vineyards, again complementing the intimate setting of the tour. We had a fabulous tasting with delicious accompaniments. Due to the small size of our group, we also had the opportunity to stomp grapes, which was such a fun and unique experience. Lunch was a delicious traditional family style meal, and the table wine was flowing. The river cruise was stunning (and was my initial reason to book a tour), but in the end, the entire day was so spectacular, it wasn’t necessarily a highlight, only because the rest of the day exceeded all expectations.Thank you Porto Locals, especially Tito, for giving us an unforgettable day in the Duoro Valley!
